Teaching aims:
  • To help students to learn some phrases and sentences about a shopping mall
  • To help students to write a plan before writing an article
  • To help students to write an article about a shopping mall according to the plan

  • To learn how to write a plan
  • To learn how to write an article using the useful words and phrases correctly
  • Teaching steps:
    Step 1 Lead in
     Christmas is coming soon. People should buy presents for friends. And Simon’s friend, Mickey, is coming to Nanjing. She wants to go shopping and have some fun. So where should she go?
    Step 2 Presentation
    Let students know what a shopping mall is and learn some new words about a mall.
    Step 3 Learning
     Students should read Simon’s notes and answer a few questions about the mall. Students should know how to write a writing plan later.
    Step 4 Practice
     Students should help Simon finish the article. (Part B) Then check the answer together.
    Step 5 Discussion
       Students should work in six groups and find out the useful words, phrases and sentences. Then teacher will write them down on the blackboard.
     Step 6 Pre-writing
       Students should work in a group of four and write down the notes about Aqua City using Part A as a model.
     Step7 Writing
       Write an article about Aqua City according to the notes.
     Step 8 Homework
       Students can write about their dream shopping mall or star shopping mall on P88.
